Lenskart invests in Deeptech Startup AjnaLens to make AI-powered smartglasses.

Date:

The eyewear sector giant, Lenskart, invested in the Mumbai-based tech startup without disclosing the amount — to make AI-powered Smartglasses.

Ajna, founded in 2014 by Pankaj Raut, Abhijit Patil, and Abhishek Tomar, is an AI-powered Augmented Reality (AR) company that provides software and hardware solutions in various sectors like defence, enterprise, and education. Last year, the company launched its audio eyewear under the name ‘Phonic’.

Ajna’s tech and Lenskart’s resources and network can help capture the fast-growing AI-based glasses market. Peyush Bansal, co-founder and CEO of Lenskart, said,
“We have been leveraging technology to create distinctive and meaningful eyewear experiences for our customers. This investment marks the next chapter in our smart glass journey, which began with the launch of Phonic, our audio glasses, in December 2024. As the smart glasses category scales rapidly, our partnership with AjnaLens strategically positions us to accelerate product innovation in this space.”

Did you know? Lenskart was caught using illegal practices to gain unfair advantages over Tata’s Titan — and was slammed by the Delhi High Court.
