Swiggy Launches “High Protein” Category Offering Minimum 15g Protein Per Dish, Now Live Across 30+ Cities.

Date:

Swiggy has launched a new “High Protein” food category to encourage healthier consumption among users. In India, a significant portion of the population is protein deficient — with approximately 84% of vegetarians and 65% of non-vegetarians not consuming adequate daily protein. To address this gap, Swiggy is promoting meals that cater to protein-rich diets.

The new category features over 5 lakh high-protein dishes, offering options made with paneer, soya, pulses, chicken, eggs, and fish. Each dish guarantees a minimum of 15 grams of protein. Additionally, Swiggy displays the calorie count and protein content for each item, enabling informed choices.

There are a wide variety of options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, including oatmeal, sandwiches, quinoa khichdi, rice bowls, and paneer bhurji meals. This makes it easy for users to enjoy delicious yet nutritious food without hassle.

Currently, the “High Protein” collection is available in 30+ cities, with plans to expand to 100+ cities soon. Users can access the category directly on the Swiggy Food page or by simply searching “High Protein” in the app.

Competitors like Zomato are also tapping into the health-focused segment. In 2022, Zomato introduced a “Healthy Options” section, which was well-received by users at the time.

On the growth front, Swiggy continues to diversify its offerings. It recently launched “Crew”, a concierge service app aimed at ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNIs) in India. Additionally, Swiggy entered the professional services marketplace with “Pyng”, positioning itself as a strong competitor to IPO-bound Urban Company.
