Airbus has teamed up with Tata to manufacture Helicopters in Karnataka.

Date:

In a historic move for India’s aerospace sector, Airbus, the world’s largest aircraft manufacturer, has teamed up with Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) to establish the country’s first privately-led Final Assembly Line (FAL) for helicopters.

📍 Location: Vemgal Industrial Area, Kolar (approx. 2 hours from Bengaluru).

🚁 Product: Airbus’ best-selling H125 helicopter, used globally for transport, rescue, and surveillance missions.

This marks a significant step under the ‘Make in India’ initiative, with a strong focus on local manufacturing, technology transfer, and building self-reliance in aerospace and defense production.

🌍 Global Scale: This will be only the 4th such H125 assembly facility worldwide, joining existing ones in France, the US, and Brazil.

🛠️ Why Karnataka?
Existing aerospace ecosystem (HAL, ISRO hubs)
Strong policy support with land subsidies and capital incentives
Readily available skilled workforce
High potential for future expansion.

The plant will cater to both domestic and global markets, creating a robust supply chain and enhancing India’s position in global aerospace manufacturing.
