OYO Announces ₹3 Lakh Cash Prize For the Best Name For Its Parent firm..

Date:

As OYO prepares for its highly anticipated Initial Public Offering (IPO), the company has initiated a crowdsourced campaign to rename its parent firm, hashtag#OravelStays, signaling its evolution from a hotel chain to a global tech powerhouse.

#OYO founder hashtag#RiteshAgarwal announced via Instagram that the winning entry for the new corporate name will receive a hashtag#CashPrize of ₹3 lakh, along with a personal meeting with him. Agarwal outlined that the ideal name should be bold, one-word, and resonate globally—free from any cultural or linguistic ties. It should reflect a tech-forward yet human touch and ideally have an available “.com” domain.

“We’re renaming the corporate brand behind it all. Not the hotel chain, not a consumer product — but the parent company powering a global ecosystem of urban innovation and modern living,” Agarwal stated. “We believe it’s time the world had a new kind of global brand — born in India, but built for the world.”

The contest has already begun, with entries closing soon. Industry sources suggest that the chosen name might also be used for a potential new app targeting premium and mid-market serviced hotels—a segment showing strong growth in India and key international markets.

This rebranding effort aligns with OYO’s preparations for a major investor presentation in London later this month, where five investment banks will evaluate the company’s readiness for its IPO, slated for the last quarter of FY 2024-25.

OYO has demonstrated impressive financial momentum, reporting a Profit After Tax (PAT) of ₹623 crore for FY 2024-25—a staggering 172% increase over the previous year’s ₹229 crore. Additionally, the company posted an adjusted EBITDA of ₹1,132 crore, marking its tenth consecutive profitable quarter and a 27% year-on-year growth.
