Reliance Partners with Google and Meta to Launch ‘Reliance Intelligence’

Date:

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has recently made significant strides in the artificial intelligence (AI) sector, marking a transformative phase in India’s technology landscape. At the 48th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on August 29, 2025, Chairman Mukesh Ambani unveiled the company’s ambitious plans to democratize AI across India through strategic partnerships with global tech giants Google and Meta.

Establishment of Reliance Intelligence

A cornerstone of this initiative is the launch of Reliance Intelligence, a wholly-owned subsidiary dedicated to AI advancements. This entity aims to develop next-generation AI infrastructure, forge global partnerships, and deliver AI services tailored for Indian consumers and enterprises. Ambani emphasized that Reliance Intelligence’s mission is to make AI accessible to every Indian, similar to the company’s earlier efforts in providing affordable digital services through Jio.

Also he finally announced that Reliance Jio Platforms will be listed through an Initial Public Offering (IPO) in the first half of 2026. This is one of the most awaited listings in India, and experts believe it could become the biggest IPO ever in the country. Check full details here.

Strategic Partnerships with Google and Meta

To bolster its AI ambitions, RIL has entered into collaborations with Google and Meta. The partnership with Google focuses on integrating AI across RIL’s diverse business sectors, including energy, retail, telecom, and financial services. A notable development is the establishment of a dedicated Jamnagar Cloud region, powered by clean energy, to support AI workloads.

In collaboration with Meta, RIL has formed a joint venture capitalized at approximately ₹855 crore (about $100 million), with Reliance holding a 70% stake and Meta 30%. This venture will leverage Meta’s open-source Llama models to provide enterprise AI solutions, offering a secure, full-stack environment for businesses to customize and deploy generative AI models across various functions such as sales, marketing, customer service, IT operations, and finance.

Development of AI-Ready Infrastructure

A pivotal aspect of Reliance Intelligence’s strategy is the construction of gigawatt-scale, AI-ready data centers in Jamnagar, designed to handle extensive AI training and inference tasks. These facilities will be powered by Reliance’s new-energy ecosystem, ensuring sustainability and scalability to meet India’s growing AI demands.

Vision for AI Accessibility

Ambani articulated a vision where AI becomes an integral part of everyday life in India, accessible to individuals and businesses alike. By combining cutting-edge AI technologies with Reliance’s expansive digital infrastructure, the company aims to foster innovation, enhance operational efficiency, and boost global competitiveness for Indian enterprises.

Microsoft Enters with its AI Models

Microsoft has debuted its first fully in-house models—MAI-Voice-1 and MAI-1-preview—crafted by the Microsoft AI (MAI) team. This strategic leap signals Microsoft’s ambition to build innovative AI without leaning on external partners, particularly OpenAI, and to sharpen its competitive edge against major rivals like Google and Meta. Broader Implications for India

This strategic move positions RIL at the forefront of India’s AI revolution, signaling a shift toward a technology-driven future. With the backing of industry leaders like Google and Meta, Reliance Intelligence is poised to play a crucial role in shaping the nation’s AI ecosystem, driving economic growth, and positioning India as a global hub for AI innovation.
