Aman Gupta, co-founder of boAt and one of the original judges on Shark Tank India, has expressed his frustration with some of the new faces joining the show in recent seasons. While the judges who have remained on the show from season one, including Gupta and Anupam Mittal, are portrayed as authentic and driven by business acumen, Gupta believes that many of the newcomers are merely using the platform to “fix their character.”
In a candid conversation on Prakhar Gupta’s YouTube channel, Aman Gupta revealed his thoughts on the new sharks, saying, “I like those whose companies are actually performing well. They are original and not here to whitewash their image. My character has always been clean, right from the start. I don’t want to take names because it might lead to controversy, but there were some people who initially rejected the show. But when they saw Anupam and I becoming heroes, they had FOMO (Fear of Missing Out). They started chasing the makers to be included as sharks, and now here they are.”
Gupta, who has been a significant figure in the Indian startup ecosystem, expressed his discontent with the fact that some entrepreneurs are using the platform not to showcase their business acumen, but to boost their public image. He continued, “We don’t do any useless stuff. Love us or hate us, this is who we are. Namita Thapar has always been honest about where her expertise lies. I have always been straightforward in what I do, and I’m not scared to be myself. That’s why sometimes I don’t like these new sharks—otherwise, it’s okay.”
Aman Gupta also took a moment to address how his character has evolved since the show began, saying, “I may have evolved from season one to four, but my character has always remained the same.” His message resonates with fans who appreciate his authenticity and straightforwardness on the show.
