Lucknow Receives Rs 10,732 Cr from Govt—Set to Become India’s First AI City.

Date:

Lucknow has been chosen as India’s very first AI City. Under the IndiaAI Mission, ₹10,732 crore will be invested—India’s largest tech infrastructure investment by any state. The plan involves 10,000 GPUs, AI language models, and a world-class innovation center in the city.

Smart City Infrastructure Across Uttar Pradesh
Uttar Pradesh is rolling out a draft AI policy and upgrading digital infrastructure in several cities. In Lucknow and Varanasi, officials are discussing AI-based smart traffic systems. 17 municipal corporations will get AI surveillance, smart cameras, plate tracking, and SOS systems linked to police rooms.

Large-Scale Skilling with ‘AI Pragya’
The government’s skilling program, ‘AI Pragya’, aims to train over 1.5 lakh people every month in AI, machine learning, data analytics, and cybersecurity. Collaborating with top tech companies like Microsoft, Google, Intel, and Guvi, the program has already trained over 10 lakh youth, farmers, teachers, and government employees across the state.

Jobs, Growth, and Global Collaboration
These AI initiatives will generate tens of thousands of jobs in the next five years, from R&D to backend roles. Global firms like IBM are setting up labs in Lucknow focused on generative AI and language tools. The state is also hosting investor meetings with countries like Singapore, UAE, and Canada to attract more international companies.

Highlighting a Competitor State
Other states are also vying for tech leadership. For instance, Telangana (Hyderabad) has branded itself as the “AI capital of India,” home to many startups and research labs. But with this official AI City status, Lucknow has taken a clear lead, backed by robust infrastructure and large-scale investment.

Recent Add-Ons from News
Recently, MLA Rajeshwar Singh proposed setting up an AI-based Intelligent Traffic Management System in Lucknow. The system could reduce travel time by 25%, fuel use by 20%, and improve ambulance response by 40%, especially in congested areas like Hazratganj and Shaheed Path. He also recommended forming a Uttar Pradesh Artificial Intelligence Commission to oversee AI systems across departments.

Bold Vision Toward 2047
All these efforts reflect Uttar Pradesh’s bold vision to become an IT powerhouse by 2047. The AI City, digital infrastructure, AI Pragya skilling, and global partnerships are transforming Lucknow into a future-ready tech hub. In simple words, Lucknow is gearing up to lead India’s next wave of jobs, innovation, and smart living.
