Reliance to Offer Free Google AI Pro Access to All Jio Users for 18 Months

Date:

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), through its AI-focused subsidiary Reliance Intelligence, has formed a strategic partnership with Google to accelerate AI adoption across India under the ambitious “AI for All” vision. This partnership brings together Reliance’s vast scale and digital ecosystem with Google’s cutting-edge AI technologies, aiming to democratize AI access for consumers, enterprises, and developers across the country.

Free Google AI Pro Access for Jio Users

As part of this collaboration, eligible Jio users will receive 18 months of free access to AI Pro, a premium AI productivity and creation suite valued at ₹35,100 per user. The offering includes:

  • Access to Gooogle’s most advanced Gemini 2.5 Pro AI model via the Gemini app.
  • Enhanced capabilities for image and video generation powered by the Nano Banana and Veo 3.1 AI models.
  • Expanded use of NotebookLM for research, academic work, and content creation.
  • 2 terabytes of Google Cloud storage spanning Google Photos, Gmail, Drive, and WhatsApp backups.

Early access is prioritized for Jio 5G users aged 18 to 25 with unlimited plans, soon expanding to all Jio customers nationwide. Users can easily activate the package via the MyJio app, making advanced AI tools widely accessible.

Empowering Indian Enterprises and Cloud Expansion

Beyond consumer offerings, Relianc Intelligence is a strategic Google Cloud partner and will enable Indian companies to leverage Google’s advanced AI hardware accelerators—Tensor Processing Units (TPUs)—within India’s data boundaries. This infrastructure strengthens India’s AI research and large-scale enterprise model deployment capabilities, supporting sectors like finance, healthcare, retail, and logistics.

Reliance will also be the launch partner for Google’s Gemini Enterprise platform in India, developing AI agents tailored to local industry needs. This unified AI platform empowers businesses to discover, create, share, and execute AI workflows securely, augmenting workplace productivity and innovation.

Leadership Insights

Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, emphasized that the partnership is designed to make India “not just AI-enabled but AI-empowered,” envisioning a future where every Indian citizen and enterprise can harness intelligent tools to innovate and grow.

CEO Sundar Pichai echoed this commitment, highlighting the collaboration’s potential to expand AI accessibility across India’s diverse consumer and developer communities, cementing the country as a global AI powerhouse.

Context on India’s Growing Free AI Ecosystem

This partnership adds to a wave of free AI initiatives by tech giants enabled by India’s rapid digital adoption. Earlier in 2025, Google had provided free AI Pro subscriptions to students, and rivals like Bharti Airtel teamed with Perplexity AI to offer free enterprise AI access across their networks. OpenAI has also launched its low-cost ChatGPT Go plan for Indian users, which recently offerd for free to all Indian users, further accelerating mass AI democratization.

These collective efforts reflect the global tech industry’s recognition of India as a crucial growth market for generative AI, offering local users and developers unprecedented opportunities to engage with advanced AI capabilities without barriers of cost or complexity.

Conclusion: Accelerating India’s AI-Driven Future

This partnership represents a pivotal moment in India’s AI journey—unlocking cutting-edge tools for millions while creating a robust domestic AI infrastructure. By bridging mass consumer access with enterprise-scale cloud hardware, this initiative exemplifies India’s vision to lead the global AI revolution with innovation, scale, and inclusivity at its core.
